Sliding Doors: OPL 2020 Split 1, Week 2

Welcome back to Sliding Doors, where each week we run through the OPL teams with sometimes spicy, sometimes nice if/then takes, and every now and then an additional bonus one around a special topic.

You might be familiar with this concept if you’re an AFL fan, which is where we got the idea. So without further ado, here are your sliding doors for OPL Split 1, Week 2!

Avant have any chance of making playoffs,

they’ll need to show that Week 1 was a strength-of-schedule issue, not a team issue.

The Chiefs can carry on their week 1 form,

the top 5 everyone was predicting is looking more like a top 3.

You surprise the league with a 7-man roster,

you’ll raise a few eyebrows around why your star imports were denied their debut.

You came away 1-1 from the weekend,

this week is a good test of character against two playoff contenders.

You consider Legacy to be the best team in the OPL,

they need to sure up their early games to be international contenders.

You look at the standings and see Mammoth at the bottom,

don’t believe they’re clearly the worst team in the league. They just have to work on finishing off games.

You’re wondering if a team can bounce back from a Baron throw,

we get to find out today.

You can’t handle Getback at his Friday,

you don’t deserve him at his Saturday.

That’s all we have for this week! We’ll be back every Friday with a new Sliding Doors for the OPL.

The Oceanic Pro League returns today.
