Sliding Doors: LCO 2022 Split 1, Week 3

Someone get a list of burn centres to Pentanet after Wray's done with them.

Welcome back to Sliding Doors for the Door Dash LCO 2022 season!

Each week we run through the League of Legends Circuit Oceania teams with sometimes spicy, sometimes nice if/then takes, and, every now and then, an additional bonus one around a special topic.

You might be familiar with this concept if you’re an AFL fan, which is where we got the idea. So without further ado, here are your sliding doors for the LCO Split 1, Week 3!

Pentanet have spent the last fortnight preparing for their match against the Chiefs,

I wouldn’t be too concerned about it.

The Dire Wolves want to jolt out of their slow death spiral,

a win is a must against Mammoth. Else they look destined to miss only their second Oceanic playoffs in history in a much less competitive environment.

You’ll excuse us to quote Brad Pitt for a moment,

there are good teams and there are bad teams. Then there’s fifty feet of crap, then there’s Gravitas. I’m at a loss as to what can save this squad.

You’re feeling a bit low about Kanga given their spot in the standings,

strength of schedule is at least in their favor now. Gravitas is a guaranteed win, while Mammoth should (operative word here) be an easy beat.

I owe anyone an apology,

I’m here to say I’m sorry, Mammoth. You’ve certainly run into your fair share of Sliding Doors, but it’s great signs for the league if a team of rookies can go 2-0 against big names.

ORDER have any chance of contesting the (now) two-horse race for the LCO title,

Kisee needs to take some initiative and prove his worth against his contemporary Kyose this week. The rest of ORDER is waiting for him.

You were you were silly enough to fall into “Chiefs, ORDER, Pentanet, Irrelevant” rhetoric (maybe it was just me),for the biggest winners of week 1,

PEACE have politely reminded you they went to Worlds last year and their goals are still just as high.

There has been a more embarrassing result in LCO – or even OPL – history,

Pentanet will be digging through the records to find it. Horrific doesn’t even start to justify their game against Mammoth, and stocks have never been lower.

That’s all we have for this week! Check back next week for more Sliding Doors content.
