Who will gain an edge in the tight battle for second place? — LCO Split 2 Predictions: Week 6 Day 1

With the Super Week down, it's time for the business end of the season.

Week 6 of the LCO is here. Regular weekly action resumes as the League enters the second half of the regular split. From today, ten games are left to either make it into playoffs or to find their 2022 season ending prematurely.

With the undefeated Chiefs still running away from the pack, already confirmed to be featured in the bracket stage, the seven other teams in the league find themselves contesting for the other four places.

With just two games separating second and sixth, these ten games will make or break every team’s hope for success.

Pentanet will open up this week looking to regroup after a couple of big-time losses to both Order and the Chiefs, as they take on the still winless Gravitas.

Next, The Chiefs look to keep their unbeaten reign of dominance going as they take on the consistently inconsistent Peace.

The night wraps up with Kanga, who find themselves well back into the playoffs hunt after a perfect 3-0 super week, looking to keep their win streak going as they take on the scrappy Mammoth line-up.

Game of the night honours, however, goes to the third contest, as Split 1 champs Order take on the unexpected Split 2 contenders, the Dire Wolves.

Taylor’s Game of the Week — Order (6-5) v Dire Wolves (7-4)

After starting last week with a four-way tie for second, we come into Week 6 with a sole team in second place, the Dire Wolves.

However, they find four teams hot on their tail. Order, Peace and Pentanet find themselves one game behind, with the freshly in-form Kanga one game behind those three.

Order will gain the first direct opportunity to catch back up with the ‘Wolves when they face each other tonight.

They also look to regroup after a tough super week tilt that saw them face Chiefs, Pentanet and Peace, picking up just a single victory against their Pentanet during the week.

Despite their record, Order is still one of the top contenders in this league. This team won Split 1, albeit with Shane “Kevy” Allen at the helm in the jungle position, for a reason. They really are never out of a game, and will always push their opponents to the maximum.

The Dire Wolves will be no pushover. Despite blowing it up in the offseason, the team came back stronger and moved themselves from a playoff maker to a championship contender.

Kim “Poltron” Nicholls’ ‘Fine, I’ll do it myself’ decision from moving to coach to active player has been successful, taking control of the Jungle. Lo “Siuman” Pak Man is still the same major mid-lane threat always has been, despite his leave of absence from professional play.

Alvin “Danteh” Wong has proved he is an up and coming talent in the bot-lane, with his duo partner Drekani “Bulldawg” Akuhata showing he has the potential to be a top support. Cameron “Zorenous” Abbott has shown he is type of versatile player you need in the top-lane currently, playing both offensive and tank champions to great success.

The last time these two teams met we saw a drawn out hard fought contest, and I expect an even closer contest today.

With the tight race to playoffs that is underway, every win matters, but wins against direct playoff hopefuls mean even more.

I could call this game either way, but I’m pointing towards the Dire Wolves direction to get the win. The win three weeks ago will bring them confidence that they can do it again, and I think this team is just that bit more hungry.
