Sliding Doors: LCO 2023 Split 1, Week 4

"I'll give them a Peace of my mind," Wray said, chuckling.

Welcome back to Sliding Doors!

Each week we run through the League of Legends Circuit Oceania teams with sometimes spicy, sometimes nice if/then takes, and, every now and then, an additional bonus one around a special topic.

You might be familiar with this concept if you’re an AFL fan, which is where we got the idea. Anyway, here are your sliding doors for the LCO Split 1, Stage 2, Week 1!

you can look past Peace’s impact on the standings,

Bliss have had an exceptional start, second place and look all but certain to progress into play-offs.

any team hasn’t met expectations,

finishing fourth place certainly raised a few eyebrows. It’s a marathon not a sprint though and as they progress to the play-offs, they should be looking to peak at the right time.

we had Dire Wolves labelled as dark horses before the season, started,

with Peace’s withdrawal all but confirming their progress, they’re an absolute bolter.

they can cause a few upsets,

it’ll be a great story for the league to have two new teams competing with the best.

you think a single upset win over Chiefs convinces us,

hope there’s some better plans for the second half of 2023.

it was great to see some life and activity from this organisation this year,

sadly that’s about to end — will probably be seeing their split end with straight set sweeps.

you’re sharing the same history a Rich Gang and Team Immunity in 2023,

good riddance, see you later, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Hope the players affected can find better opportunities in the second half of 2023.

any of the top four teams worries me the most,

I’m a little concerned about Pentanet, dropped games to Chiefs and Bliss however they redeemed themselves to take the only win off Dire Wolves. Best-of series are a different beast but its a worrying record to have against better sides.

That’s all we have for this week! Check back next week for more Sliding Doors content!
