The Football Federation Australia (FFA) has announced its planned changes for the 2020 E-League series, which is making its return for the third year running.
The E-League has had an overhaul in its broadcast structure, with the biggest change being a live final at Fortress Melbourne where fans will be able to see the best FIFA 20 talent the region has to offer in person.
Some further changes to the league which are worth noting is that the entire home and away league will be run over two match days at the ESL Studios in Sydney.
Match day 1 on Saturday February 15 will see 6 rounds of action where each PS4 and Xbox representative from each A-League team will play and the aggregate score across the two consoles will determine the result for who takes home the points.
This will be followed by five rounds on the second match day Saturday March 7. At the end of the second match day, the E-League Premiers will be crowned based on the team with the most points.
The live finals at Fortress Melbourne taking place on Saturday May 9 will crown the E-League Champion between the two consoles, who will then duke it out in the grand final.
Each console will have its own tournament, seeding will be determined based off each console player’s results in their individual games across the E-League season.

The winner of the 2020 E-League Grand Final will earn themselves 450 Global Series Points to help bolster their chances of competing for the 2020 FIFA eWorld Cup.
FFA’s Head of Leagues, Greg O’Rourke, mentioned that after two seasons “it was timely for us to reassess and revise our strategy for the future of the competition.
“The E-League is an important part of our long-term strategy for the Leagues and we are looking forward to an exciting new chapter in the development of esports in Australia.”
