Peace chase revenge over MSI heroes — LCO Split 2 Predictions: Week 1, Day 2

Harry Taylor breaks down the LCO Split 1 grand final rematch.

After a Mid Season Invitational to remember from the defending champions Pentanet.GG, the LCO returns for its second split under its newly minted name & structure.

The DoorDash LCO returns for Split 2, this time with the traditional triple round-robin competition we grew to love in the last two years of the OPL.

While more games played means more chances to slip up without it impacting your season, we’ve learned throughout Oceanic League of Legends history that every game still matters, very much, and one win or loss could change a team’s destiny forever in the race for the illustrious World Championship.

Harry Taylor breaks down the biggest LCO battles coming up on Matchday 2.

Taylor’s Pick of the Week: Pentanet.GG vs Peace

Prediction: PGG win.

LCO’s second day of Split 2 games will kick-start with an absolute banger: defending champions Pentanet.GG meet Peace — armed with their new star jungler — in the season’s first Circuit Oceania grand final rematch.

This is a match both teams will desperately want to win to set up their early momentum in the race for the Split 2 title and a trip to China for Worlds.

Peace were able to pull off the signing of the offseason, recruiting Leo “Babip” Romer in the jungle. The three-time OPL champ returns after a stint with TSM in the LCS Academy league, and a Proving Grounds campaign.

This signing brings PCE ever-closer to their Split 1 rivals.

PGG return to the LCO in Split 2 looking to regain the rights to carry the pride of Oceania overseas once more. Their Mid-Season Invitational was a smashing success, and so the Perth lineup keeps the same faces for their title defence.

That stability should give PGG the edge. Pentanet will be able to take pre-existing synergy that they built throughout Split 1, and honed in Iceland, to their advantage, and march to the victory. Peace may look slick early, but Babip and LeeSA play jungle in fundamentally different ways; they may take some time to ‘click’ on the Rift before we start seeing results.

Pentanet will be looking to go big here on Day 2, especially considering an emphatic victory should set the tone for the rest of their winter season.

Taylor’s Week 1, Day 2 Predictions

  • Pentanet def. Peace
  • Dire Wolves def. Gravitas
  • Chiefs def. Mammoth
  • Order def. Legacy

The LCO returns today. Pentanet.GG vs Peace will be played on Wednesday, June 16 at 6pm (AEST). Catch up on all the LCO 2021 Split 2 details in our ultimate coverage hub.
