Six Masters 2020 Predictions: Week 5

Six Masters Week 5 will only feature two games, with Wednesday’s matches being moved to Week 7. However, there’s still something on the line for the four teams playing later today.

Let it be known that I’m currently a broken record when it comes to talking about the Six Masters ladder. Yes, it’s tight. It’s been tight for the last three weeks. Is this the week where things get blown open? Who knows.

“After this week’s action, a clearer picture should form.” That’s what I said in Week 3. If only I knew how wrong I was.

We locked Kanga at the bottom before Week 4, and heading into Week 5, it’s pretty safe to assume Wildcard have carved a spot for themselves at the top of the Six Masters ladder. They’re two games clear of the chasing pack, which is tighter than ever.

While we will only see four teams line up in Week 5 due to a scheduling change, there’s no reason to not tune into Six Masters later tonight. To help break down this week’s action, I’ve once again enlisted the help of Snowball Esports’ Six Masters expert panel. If you need a refresher, you can find them below:

While this piece will be an overview of our general predictions for the week, we will also have our own tips running alongside these. Be sure to check out Snowball Esports’ Twitter later today for the full rundown.

SiNister vs. Kanga

Prediction: SiNister 2-0

First it was 10 rounds. Then five. Then only four. Now, it’s down to two. That’s how many rounds Kanga has taken against their respective opponents each week. It can only go up from here, right?

Wayneman didn’t get the send-off he would have hoped for against Wildcard last week, but a new look Kanga could be just what they need to reboot their Six Masters season. Making it to playoffs now is a pipedream — after all, the best record they can hope for is 6-8.

However, against SiNister, the odds are stacked against them. SiNister have been battling to cement themselves in the top four, and they aren’t going to take Kanga lightly. They’ll want to convert the sweep in as little rounds as possible to get round differential in their favour.

Will Kanga get pummeled even harder this week than they have been in the past? Probably not, but don’t expect to see a victory screen for them just yet, as SiNister should take this series pretty comfortably.

Elevate vs. Pittsburgh Knights

Prediction: Elevate 2-0

Elevate fell out of touching range of Wildcard this week after drawing with Ferox. That’ll make the top-seeded team all the more inspired to thrash a piping hot Pittsburgh Knights who are looking to cement a spot in the playoffs.

Ferox’s bans against Elevate on Consulate definitely threw a curveball into the mix, and they looked somewhat unsettled on the first map. However, they steered the ship true to pull out the draw.

On the other end of the equation, the Knights made a statement to the rest of the competition after flogging LFO 7-2 on Clubhouse to round out their tie. However, they are yet to prove their worth against the top three in Wildcard, Okami, and Elevate.

This might be the Knights’ downfall. While Elevate and the Knights have had the same schedule, history tells us that when the pressure ramps up, Elevate will be there to heed the call. A 2-0 here should cement them in the top two, and keep them on Wildcard’s tail.

Six Masters Week 5 kicks off on Tuesday, May 26 at 7pm AEST when SiNister takes on Kanga. You can follow all the action on the Rainbow 6 Twitch channel.
