Sliding Doors: OPL 2020 Split 2, Week 2

Welcome back to Sliding Doors, where each week we run through the OPL teams with sometimes spicy, sometimes nice if/then takes, and every now and then an additional bonus one around a special topic.

You might be familiar with this concept if you’re an AFL fan, which is where we got the idea. So without further ado, here are your sliding doors for the OPL Split 2, Week 2!

Avant can pull out an upset over the Chiefs,

they are the surprise package of Split 1, no questions.

You’re just as shocked as I am about the Chiefs’ loss to Pentanet,

the pressure is on this week. Sometimes luck doesn’t fall your way, but 4-0 would have been the expectation.

There was one big loser from the first week,

the Wolfpack was it. Going from grand finalists to 0-2 with only a coaching change means there’s a lot of soul searching up ahead for the four-time champions.

You’re looking for winnable games to get the Gravy train going,

Avant is your best chance, or you might be waiting a few weeks.

You were looking for something safer than a house,

Legacy going 2-0 this weekend is comparable. The return on investment might not be as good though if you give the bookies a gander.

You’re looking for reasons to bring back promotion and relegation,

Mammoth are currently a good case to bring it back. What is there to get excited about with this team?

There’s one thing that’s starting to become iconic with Order,

it’s going 1-1 over the weekend. Soon might even trump them finishing fourth almost every split.

You needed to prove you mean business after knocking off the Chiefs,

there’s only one way to brush them off if you’re Pentanet. Beat Order and Dire Wolves this week, or face the same downfall as Split 1.

That’s all we have for this week. Check back every Friday for more sliding doors!
