Sliding Doors: LCO 2023 Split 1, Week 1

Sit back, take a break from being mad at Isaac and get salty with Andrew Wray with the newest edition of Doors.

Welcome back to Sliding Doors for the LCO 2023 season!

Each week we run through the League of Legends Circuit Oceania teams with sometimes spicy, sometimes nice if/then takes, and, every now and then, an additional bonus one around a special topic.

You might be familiar with this concept if you’re an AFL fan, which is where we got the idea. So without further ado, here are your sliding doors for the LCO Split 1, Week 1!

there’s one thing I’m excited about this roster,

it’s finally seeing Whynot regularly play, feels like he’s been on the fringes longer than this column has existed.

we’re throwing around the term dynasty,

the Chiefs look par for the course should this split meet expectations. Makes last year’s split 1 upset all the more painful.

you like the look of this roster,

you’re not alone, a high quality squad, lets just hope the organisation can pay the bills in 2023.

Ground Zero were hoping to hit the ground running from Split 1,

they might be running into a bit of trouble. Lots of upside to this team, but I think most people have them missing playoffs.

you thought Kanga had a undulating first year in the LCO,

year two is looking like an uphill climb.

there is yet again nothing to look forward to on the rift for this team for the third year running,

at least their new jerseys look nice.

you pivot into a PCS aligned roster,

while we’re intrigued to see the results, don’t expect the Oceanic faithful to fall in love with it.

there’s one team with the microscope on it,

Pentanet will fall under the most scrutiny. They have a fantastic roster and are building a culture out in the west with different innovations – however a lack of results will beg questions.

Shernfire has finally made his return to Oceanic League of Legends,

I hope his transgressions of repetitive competitive rulings are behind him.

That’s all we have for this week! Check back next week for more Sliding Doors content.

The League of Legends Circuit Oceania returns tomorrow.
