Sliding Doors: LCO 2023 Split 1, Week 2

More forfeits: Peace this split, or Wray in ranked matches?

Welcome back to Sliding Doors for the LCO 2023 season!

Each week we run through the League of Legends Circuit Oceania teams with sometimes spicy, sometimes nice if/then takes, and, every now and then, an additional bonus one around a special topic.

You might be familiar with this concept if you’re an AFL fan, which is where we got the idea. So without further ado, here are your sliding doors for the LCO Split 1, Week 2!

going 0-2 in the opening week is rough,

the good news is they’ve played 2 out of 3 top teams, it will only get easier from here and should have runs on the board this week.

there are any winners from the demise of ORDER,

the Chiefs have done pretty well for themselves, Kisee and BioPanther with MVPs have shaken off last year’s uncertainty.

there’s one thing to rejoice,

it’s the return of Chazz to the LCO, a genuine chance to take the league MVP this year.

any organisation can feel hard done by for an opening schedule,

Ground Zero skewered here, drawing the predicted top 3 in your first 4 games makes it very difficult to make a mark as a new team.

Kanga want to prove they’re above the floor of the league,

this is the make-or-break week.

you’re desperate for wins,

while we’d much rather see a game on the Rift, you’ll take the W however you can take them.

you have forfeited 2 weeks in a row,

at best you’re ignorantly incompetent — at worst you’re actively and disgracefully hurting the league and product.

you’re a sucker for nostalgia,

there’s something great about seeing Chippys and Shern re-uniting in the LCO — they’re looking the goods too.

there is one small complaint I have about this season,

it’s the communication and lead-up to day one seemed incredibly rushed and fans were only drabbed info at the final hours. But hey — still better than the OPL.
