With Melbourne getting all of the esports love from next week’s DreamHack, Sydney fans will get their fix very soon thanks to Red Bull High Grounds in the form of a debut Fortnite spectacle.
Fifteen teams captained by amateur players will draft a pro and content creator for their squad following two qualifying rounds.
Online qualifiers for the Captain position begin today, with additional in-person qualifiers taking place on May 5th during Fortress Sydney’s 1st Party.
Placement of the fifteen talented amateur players will determine the order for their draft.
Once our Captains and their seeding are decided, they’ll be able to select their favourite Fortnite pro and content creator from their respective pools for a shot at the #1 Victory Royale.
The determined trios will compete in front of a live crowd at The Star Event Centre Sydney on Saturday, May 27th for a chance at the inaugural Red Bull High Grounds Champion title.
Successful Aussie content creator and potential draftee, Lachlan Power, is keen to see the event come to life: “I’m excited to be involved in Red Bull High Grounds where we can bring together professional players and creators to support rising talent in Australia’s Fortnite scene.”
“It’s going to be an entertaining night for the audience, and for us!”
Viewers can catch the action streamed live online, but with tickets on sale now for the exciting 16+ event, eager attendees will be able to cheer on the teams from the live audience.
Those at The Star will also get the opportunity to meet some of their favourite talent face-to-face and participate in audience games for giveaways.
With two in-person events to check out in Sydney during May, tickets for the big day can be purchased here.
